THE largest labour-hire company in Namibia, Africa Personnel Services (APS), made an eleventh-hour attempt yesterday to stop the implementation of the amended Labour Act that comes into operation today.

APS’s involvement as a middleman in the labour hiring process is effectively outlawed by the new amendments.The APS application will be heard in the Hight Court on August 13. Neither APS nor the Namibia Employers Federation (NEF) yesterday wanted to comment on the application, saying only that the court must interpret the letter of the law, and not the spirit.
